Slating complete

The slates are on so it no longer matters when it rain, what a relief. Generally the slaters did a very good job bit the zinc flashing is crapily done - the ties not evenly spaced and it sticks out 30mm beyond the end of the building. Really frustrating.

Corner window and metal battens

The corner window mostly in means the slating can start at last.
Third image shows the metal studs we are require dto use instead of timber battens for the cladding (fire reasons).

Fooling around with HDR on the house

I've been taking some pictures for the Edinburgh Architecture Association's 150th Birthday and experimenting with HDR as the light has been so bad these last few days. Here are a couple on the house for fun...

Timber cladding in oak

The eagled eyed might spot the metal framing we are required to use for building control purposes - juts one of the many difficulties we are having to contend with.

Again as with everything progress is slow. But hopefully the attention to detail will be worth it.

Insect mesh at the base of the timber cladding - again a building control requirement. Personally I think it is a total waste of time.

4th September progress

This image showing the extract vent which we had made up with 7,855mm2 worth of free air space, backed with insect mesh, to avoid those ubiquitous ventilation grilles.

More progress images - long days slogging over the aluminium cladding... and yellow downpipe, the jury is still out on the colour.
